Overview
Install, test, maintain and repair electronic, computer, electrical and mechanical systems; plan and implement preventive maintenance schedules for assigned equipment and perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility.
This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing.
Education and Experience- High school diploma or GED plus sixty (60) credit hours vocational training or completion of a two (2) year technical program in electronics, electrical engineering, or instrumentation.
- Four (4) years of electronic systems installation, maintenance, repair and low voltage systems experience.
- One year (1) technical/functional crew lead experience preferred.
- Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
- Possession of a valid City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
- Possession of a valid New Mexico Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class A within six (6) months from date of hire.
- Possession of a valid AC Recovery certification within six (6) months from date of hire.
- Possession of a valid Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) license within six (6) months from date of hire.
- Pertinent, Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulations
- Theories and practices of electronic equipment diagnostics and repair
- Theories and practices supporting the installation, maintenance and repair of electronic circuits and equipment
- Principles and practices of preventive maintenance associated with electronic components
- Basic tools, methods and techniques used in the repair and maintenance of various electronic equipment
- Occupational hazards and standard safety practices
- Modern office procedures, methods and equipment
- General working knowledge of transit operating systems
- Active understanding of electronic and electro‑mechanical systems
- Install, troubleshoot and maintain electronic, mechanical, computer and low voltage systems.
- Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on assigned electronic components.
- Use various diagnostic equipment associated with electronic repairs.
- Maintain appropriate supplies and supply sources for timely repair of equipment.
- Analyze, locate and correct electronic malfunctions in assigned equipment.
- Read, interpret and prepare schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Plan and implement preventive maintenance schedules for assigned equipment.
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Work independently in the absence of supervision.
- Communicate clearly and concisely.
- Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
