About This Role

Fiber Tel ARRAY is looking for an HDD Operator for the Albuquerque, NM location. A successful operator is specially trained and has expertise in locating for horizontal / directional drill rigs and product support equipment. This individual will be primarily responsible for setting up and completing drilling of variable‑sized underground boreholes and pulling back the required conduit/pipe. As a Directional Driller/Equipment Operator, you are responsible for running various directional drilling equipment;
Directional Drill-shop (Vermeer and/or Ditch Witch), Vac. Truck, Mud Truck, Excavator, Forklift, Dump truck, Locator, among others.

Pay: $26‑35/hr, DOE.

Responsibilities

All phases of telecommunication construction include but are not limited to: loading, driving, delivery, digging, removal and placement of various types, sizes and weights of construction materials and equipment.

  • Locate for Horizontal Directional Drill for installation of underground conduit and fiber optic cable.
  • Ensure safety of the public and other utilities underground facilities.
  • Operate Horizontal Directional Drill.
  • Assist in potholing and remediation.
  • Assist with setting hand holes and completing tie‑ins.
  • Read and comprehend utility locates.
  • tehnolog. Set equipment up including the drill, water tanks and grounding the machine.
  • Formulate and mix drilling mud for site conditions.
  • Perform proper reaming and pull‑back methods for existing conditions.
  • Oversee laborers and/or crew members work and monitor time usage.
  • Clean and maintain equipment, check fluid levels, conduct visual inspections, perform pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections, and maintain winterized equipment.
  • Communicate with supervisor daily to submit required reports (bore log, vehicle maintenance reports, crew time logs, etc.).
  • Follow specifications for the job and company policies.
  • Comply with safety procedures on and off the project site.
  • Strive for optimal production while working safely and performing quality work.
Qualifications
  • Pass a pre‑employment drug screen and background check.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license or be eligible to obtain the required license for the position.
  • Good driving record required.
  • Basic knowledge of and ability to operate various types of utility trucks and equipment safely.
  • Basic knowledge of and ability to use hand tools and equipment safely.
  • Class A Commercial Driver’s License is a plus (higher wage scales for CDL holders).
  • Communicate effectively with customers, employees, etc.
  • Work in all weather conditions.
  • Lift/carry 50 lbs regularly, up to 100 lbs as needed with or without assistance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous construction experience, preferably in the telecommunications industry.
  • Knowledge of established Horizontal/Directional Drill Locator/Operator procedures and techniques.
  • Ability to perform Horizontal/Directional Drill Locator/Operator procedures and duties.
  • Ability to travel.
Working Conditions

This is a full‑time hourly position, expected to work at least 40 hours per week. The position operates outdoors and is regularly exposed to extreme cold, rain, sleet, snow, humidity、水 high temperatures, and high wind.
