Service Tech Positions and Responsibilities

Service Tech I – The Service Technician I is often a recent graduate from an accredited trade school or has 3 or fewer years of experience. The position is qualified to make repairs in the field but is not considered proficient enough to diagnose repairs unsupervised. The Service Technician I is expected to be proficient in preventative maintenance work. Attitude, work ethic, and a willingness to learn is sought after more than skill level.

Service Tech II – Requires EPA certification and generally has more than 3 years of experience. The position is qualified and skilled in maintaining and servicing commercial grade HVAC equipment, including unitary products up to 50‑ton package units, boilers, and heat exchangers, without supervision.

Service Tech III – Requires EPA certification and generally has more than 5 years of experience. The position is qualified and skilled in maintaining and servicing commercial grade HVAC equipment, including unitary products up to 50‑ton package units, boilers, heat exchangers, control valves, and chillers (including retrofitting) without supervision.
