Tower Foreman – Qual Tek

Base Pay Range

$33.00/hr – $40.00/hr

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise daily activities of tower crews, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity on all projects.
  • Climb and perform work on communication towers and elevated structures up to 500 ft.
  • Serve as on‑site safety leader, enforcing safety protocols and facilitating briefings.
  • Lead installation, testing, and maintenance of antennas, radios, hybrid cables, connectors, and mounts.
  • Interpret construction documents and RF specifications, ensuring accurate installation per scope.
  • Manage job site logistics, materials, schedules, and documentation.
  • Perform advanced testing and troubleshooting (sweep, fiber, PIM).
  • Ensure proper rigging, hoisting, and climbing equipment safety and inspection.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks, completing work according to customer and company standards.
  • Track on‑site inventory and materials, refreshing supplies as needed.
  • Maintain rigging, hoisting, and climbing equipment safety compliance.
  • Communicate job status, issues, and changes to management.
  • Complete required documentation (daily reports, safety observations, quality checklists, site photos).
  • Maintain tools, equipment, vehicles, and a clean job site.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate tower technicians at all levels.
  • Travel regularly to job sites, including overnight stays.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Certifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or related trade school education.
  • Five years of experience in wireless tower construction, maintenance, or field services.
  • Two years of supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead crews and deliver high‑quality work on schedule and within budget.
  • Competent Climber/Rescue Certification from an accredited institution.
  • OSHA 30 Construction Training Card.
  • First Aid and CPR Certification.
  • Competent Rigging and Hoisting Certification.
  • Other relevant certifications (NWSA, Hazcom, Bloodborne Pathogen, RF Safety, etc.) as required by scope of work.
Technical Skills
  • Computer and Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Expert knowledge of wireless communication infrastructure and equipment, construction techniques, and safety protocols.
  • Proficient in tower climbing, rigging, antenna and line installation, and advanced testing.
  • Ability to interpret RF data, construction drawings, and customer specifications.
  • Proficient with hand and power tools.

Physical Requirements
  • Pass pre‑employment screening, background, and drug testing.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Climb vertically, pull body weight, and work at heights up to 500 ft, for extended periods.
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 lb regularly.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and grasp materials and tools with both hands.
  • Work long hours in outdoor environments, including extreme weather conditions.
  • Stand, walk, and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (fall protection harness, hard hat, safety glasses, gloves).
  • Climb while wearing a safety harness, maintaining combined body weight between 130 lb and 310 lb per industry fall protection standards.
  • Fit to perform tower rescues and participate in safety drills and training exercises.
  • Work in confined spaces and at varying elevations.
  • Work long and unpredictable hours.
  • Travel away from home up to 75 % of the time, including weekends and extended travel.
