UNM Taos seeks a safety oriented professional to provide security and safety functions for our campus supporting over 1200 students. This role will monitor all safety, health, and environmental standards and programs for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The position identifies non-compliant or hazardous conditions in both safety and security and champions opportunities for continual improvement in processes and procedures. This important role will coordinate campus environmental health and safety programs, including safety inspections, accident investigations, and safety training.
The position provides personal, equipment, and real property security on campus, including escort services and other basic public assistance services as needed. The role will be instrumental in planning for emergency preparedness for major on campus events. Additionally, the role performs routine security and public safety patrol duties while providing first‑line response, emergency management, and/or referral for emergency services.
- Successful candidate must submit to post‑offer, pre‑employment physical examination and medical history check.
- Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
- Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.
- Must pass a pre‑employment criminal background check.
- High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
- Previous experience with ISO 14001 and/or 18001.
- OSHA or NMOSHA training(s).
- CPR, AED, or certified First Aid Training.

Exempt. Pay:
Monthly $4,236.27 – $5,950.53.
