Job Description

This field‑based role requires living within a reasonable distance from the primary city and working to execute brand strategy, drive sales performance, manage territory and accounts, and build strong customer relationships while placing the patient at the center of all efforts. Candidates will operate within Abb Vie’s business code of conduct, policies, and applicable laws.

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed those objectives.
  • Create pre‑call plans and execute post‑call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance.
  • Handle objections, misunderstandings, and concerns consistently to gain logical calls to action and close sales calls.
  • Proactively serve customer needs and exceed expectations, building trusted relationships and win‑win agreements.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers, maximizing access and sales opportunities.
  • Continuously build insight into customer needs, territory market landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease, product, clinical, and sales expertise; share this intelligence with in‑field team, brand team, and sales manager.
  • Differentiate Abb Vie’s value proposition, identify and maintain disease‑state experts, speakers, and advocates to maximize brand performance.
  • Provide reliable transportation (personal auto, company vehicle, or powered equipment).
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, business, or related field preferred; equivalent industry experience required.
  • At least five (5) years of relevant industry experience, with three (3) or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry; high school diploma or GED required.
  • In‑depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; recognized as an expert resource by stakeholders.
  • Strong business acumen, strategic and critical thinking skills.
  • Adaptable to customer styles and capable of developing effective sales strategies.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment; influence and collaborate across teams.
  • Proven leadership and coaching experience at district, regional, or organizational levels.
  • Preferred:
    Proven track record of sales performance in relevant therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account‑based selling, training, managed healthcare, or marketing.
  • English language proficiency verbally and in writing (for all non‑English speaking countries).
  • Must satisfy all applicable HCIR credentialing requirements and maintain eligibility; responsible for credentialing compliance.
  • Valid driver’s license; pass pre‑employment drug screening and meet safe driving requirements.

  • External:
    Specialty physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and others as required by the brand plan.
  • Internal:
    In‑field team, sales management (DSM), marketing management, training, customer excellence, and brand plan stakeholders.
