- Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service and answer questions about products within the department and store.
- Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment; ensure maintenance of counter, cases and coolers on a continuous basis.
- Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals and monitor all established quality assurance standards.
- Embrace the Customer 1st strategy and encourage associates to deliver excellent customer service.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal health and civil code regulations.
- Observe scheduled shift operating hours and meet daily production goals for baked goods.
- Maintain a clean and sanitized work area; plan and organize development plans with goals, tasks, and time lines.
- Assist with receiving and unloading of merchandise and supplies; aid in inventory, labeling, stocking and merchandising.
- Gain and maintain knowledge of products; respond to questions and offer product suggestions.
- Prepare special orders per customer requests and use equipment per company guidelines (refrigerators, freezers, slicers, ovens, proof-box, stove, computerized scale).
- Measure, prepare and mix ingredients according to recipes; ensure ingredient quality and proper dating; review sell-by dates and take action as needed.
- Label, stock and inventory department merchandise; report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
- Provide excellent customer service; understand store layout and locate products on request.
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads; maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and note discrepancies.
- Maintain compliance with food safety regulations and guidelines; reinforce safety programs and report unsafe conditions.
- Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying the appropriate manager of needed repairs; report accidents promptly.
- Ensure adherence to merchandising, customer service, labor control, expense and safety rules; participate in loss prevention measures.
- Perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bakery experience
- Retail experience
- Second language: speaking, reading and/or writing
- Ability to handle stressful situations
- Effective communication skills
- Knowledge of basic math
- Current food handler s permit once employed
- Must be able to meet the minimum physical demands of the position
- Must be 18 or older
