American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) position at a Level I Trauma, Teaching hospital in New Mexico, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and proficiency with advanced cardiac equipment including ECMO, IABP, and Impella.
Details- Work in a 554-bed Level I Trauma, Teaching, acute care facility's CVICU
- Patient population includes post-op open heart surgery, CABG, aortic aneurysm/dissection repair, Fem Pop bypass, pulmonary embolism, cardiac arrest, endovascular repair, heart failure, MODS, and sepsis
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2
- Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
- Weekends required on an as-needed basis
- No on-call requirements
- May float to other ICUs, PCU floors, ED (for admitted patients), and PACU (for admitted patients)
- Charting via Cerner
- Free parking available on site
- Active NM or Compact RN license required
- Current certifications required: BLS and ACLS
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Proficiency with advanced cardiac equipment: CRRT, ECMO, IABP, Impella, Swan-Ganz catheters, and arterial lines
- Experience with bedside procedures including tracheostomy/PEG care, chest tubes, Foley insertion, and NG tubes
- Experience with CVCs and post-op open heart patient care required
- COVID vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with a completed exemption form signed by a provider
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Care for complex cardiovascular and surgical patients including post-op open heart cases and hemodynamically unstable patients requiring advanced monitoring and intervention
- Equipment used includes CRRT, Hemosphere, Bladder scanner, Cortrak, ultrasound, Philips monitors, Impella, IABP, ECMO, ZOLL, Dopplers, Glidescope, Pupilometer, Blanketrol, Arctic Sun, Belmont, and Bair Hugger
- Black scrubs required
- First‑time travelers are welcome to apply
- RTO requests exceeding 7 days require facility approval ; all time‑off requests should be disclosed upfront
