Job Details
• Works in the Family Birthing Center (L&D) of an acute care hospital setting,
• Cares for antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients as well as newborns,
• Performs assessments for triage patients over 20 weeks gestation using obstetric triage acuity tools,
• Manages a wide range of obstetric conditions including PTL, preeclampsia, ROM, PPROM, vaginal bleeding, and acute/critical presentations,
• Administers obstetric medications including Pitocin, misoprostol, methergine, hemabate, mag sulfate, terbutaline, labetalol, nifedipine, hydralazine, and insulin,
• Provides postpartum care for both vaginal and cesarean deliveries, including newborn assessments and medication administration,
• Prepares patients for scheduled or emergency cesarean deliveries,
• Floating between departments and/or local locations within a 20-mile radius is required,
• 12-hour day shifts, , 3 days per week (36 hours/week),
Job Requirements
• Active NM or Compact RN license required,
• Current certifications required: BLS (through AHA, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross), NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring,
• Minimum 2 years of current L&D/FBC nursing experience required,
• ADN or ASN degree required (minimum),
• English fluency required (speaking, reading, and writing),
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position,
Additional Information
• Epic EMR experience is preferred; on-site training is available for Epic,
• Performs immediate newborn stabilization, assists with laboratory draws, IV starts, phototherapy, hypoglycemia care, and care of opiate withdrawal newborns,
• Stabilizes critically ill newborns for transport as needed,
• A Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia (BCA) test is administered during the first week of orientation; failure to pass will result in dismissal,
• Former permanent employees of this health system must wait one year before being considered as a traveler
