Summary

The New Mexico VA Health Care System is recruiting for the Chief of Ambulatory Care. Ambulatory Care Service provides administrative - programmatic - and clinical leadership for primary care services to ensure achievement of the clinical - research and education goals.
This position is a dual clinical and administrative role.
- This is a (100%) (full-time) clinical position involving the provision of Ambulatory Care Department
- These services will be rendered in a thoughtful and resource effective manner consistent both with VA policies and with the highest standards of medical care
- Such activities include - but are not limited to - diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illness
- basic procedures including biopsies - patient and family teaching - consulting and collaborating with other health care providers
- prescribing medications and adjunctive modalities
- refers appropriately to other specialties as needed
- provides care coordination between service lines
- and communication with patients and/or their appropriate surrogates regarding findings and management plans
- The incumbent must demonstrate leadership - strong clinical and physical assessment skills
- Primary roles and responsibilities:
Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for a section of 20+ employees - ensuring high-quality care and compliance with organizational standards - Supervise and mentor a diverse team of healthcare professionals - including MD/DO physicians - Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) - Physical/Occupational Therapists (PT/OT) - and clinical technicians
- Foster collaboration across multiple disciplines to optimize patient outcomes and enhance care coordination
- Implement best practices in scheduling - workflow efficiency - and adherence to regulatory guidelines
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support professional development for all team members
