Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced PICU RN with a NM or compact RN license, pediatric ICU experience, and required certifications for a night shift travel assignment.

Responsibilities
  • Position is in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) within a hospital
  • Pediatric patient population with ratios ranging from 1:1 to 1:3, including holding Peds or SAC status patients
  • 12-hour night shifts, three days per week, with weekend and on-call requirements as needed by the unit
  • Floating between departments and local locations within 20 miles is required
  • Epic EMR is used; experience is preferred
  • Provides direct nursing care including assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation
  • Coordinates patient care in collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare team members
  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments and documents per policy
  • Assumes responsibility for supervision of LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel
  • Must meet unit standards for population-specific education, protocols, and competency testing
  • Team-oriented, flexible, and able to work in a fast-paced environment is required
  • Holiday coverage may be required per unit needs
  • Epic EMR system is used in the department
  • First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
Requirements
  • Active NM or compact RN license required
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications are required; BLS and PALS must be from AHA, American Health and Safety, or Red Cross
  • Minimum two years of current experience in a 12+ bed PICU required
  • Previous completion of at least one 13-week travel assignment in pediatrics required
  • Pediatric CVICU experience is a plus
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required
  • Pass/Fail onsite Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia test required during orientation; failure after two attempts will result in termination
  • Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates within 50 miles are not eligible
  • Returning former permanent staff must have at least one year separation to be considered
