Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Family Birthing Center/Labor & Delivery role requiring a NM or Compact RN license and expertise in antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Family Birthing Center (Labor & Delivery) of a hospital setting

• Patient population includes antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum mothers, and newborns

• Duties include triage, labor assessment, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care

• Floating between departments or local locations within 20 miles is required

• 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, three shifts per week

• Use of Epic EMR, with onsite training available

• Responsible for labor assessment, monitoring both mother and fetus, medication administration including induction and emergency drugs, and stabilization of newborns

• Care of both vaginal and cesarean postpartum patients and newborns, including those requiring specialized care such as phototherapy and hypoglycemia management

• Provide support for hearing screens, IV starts, medication administration, lab draws, and newborn stabilization for transport as needed

• Must be able to respond to critical conditions such as preeclampsia, preterm labor, and other obstetric emergencies

• Holiday coverage and flexible scheduling may be required

• Return travelers who were previously employed by the facility must wait one year before being reconsidered

• No local candidates permitted; candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility

Requirements

• Current NM or Compact RN license

• Minimum of two years recent L&D experience

• Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required

• Current BLS (AHA, American Health and Safety, or Red Cross), NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring certifications required

• Must pass Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia testing during first week of assignment

• Epic EMR experience preferred but not required
