Travel ICU nurses provide specialized care to critically ill patients in intensive care units across different healthcare facilities. On any given shift, a nurse handles complex medical equipment, monitors for subtle changes, and provides compassionate care to critically ill patients. However, in an intensive care unit, patients require regular monitoring of vitals, the use of life-supporting systems such as ventilators or heart monitoring, and precisely delivered medications.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Monitoring & Assessment:
Assessing, monitoring, and recording patient condition as appropriate
For this reason, ICU nurses require more extensive knowledge of complex medical conditions and equipment
Continuous vital sign monitoring and documentation
Early recognition of patient deterioration
Equipment Management:
Managing invasive lines and monitoring devices
Managing artificial airways and ventilators
Titrating hemodynamic drips
Operating and troubleshooting complex life-support equipment
Required Qualifications:
Active RN license in compact state or ability to obtain licensure in assignment states
Current BLS certification
Clear background check and drug screening
