Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced PICU RN for night shifts requiring New Mexico or compact RN licensure, pediatric ICU, and travel experience.
Responsibilities- Work in a pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) within a hospital setting
- Night shift schedule with 12-hour shifts, three days per week
- Floating between departments or locations within a 20-mile radius may be required
- Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:3, including care of holding pediatric or SAC status patients
- Weekend and on-call coverage required as needed by the unit
- Use of Epic EMR is preferred
- Provide comprehensive nursing care using the nursing process for pediatric critical care patients
- Coordinate care with patients, families, and the care team
- Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and protocols
- Supervise LPNs and assistive personnel as required
- Identify and address patient and family education needs throughout care
- Orientation includes pass/fail arrhythmia testing, which must be passed to continue employment
- Unit expects candidates to work weekends and holiday shifts as required
- Active New Mexico or compact RN license
- Minimum of two years' recent pediatric ICU experience in a 12+ bed unit
- Previous completion of at least one 13-week travel assignment required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from AHA, American Health and Safety, or Red Cross
- Associate degree (ADN or ASN) in nursing required
- Pediatric CVICU experience is a plus
- Teamwork, flexibility, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment necessary
- Must pass Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia testing onsite during orientation
- Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility (no locals allowed)
- Candidates who previously worked as permanent staff must wait one year before being eligible for consideration
