POSITION

DESCRIPTION:

Coverage Inspectors will be monitoring product/material quality performance through areas from receiving, pin through-hole, surface mount components, finished PCBA and box level assemblies, and when applicable secondary and mechanical operations (coating, potting, stamping, painting, etc.) but not limited to these areas where the product or process inspections may be required. Compliance The quality inspector will follow IPC and other applicable industry standards and inspection requirements defined by the organization (engineering areas), as well as customer requirements.

Non-Conformance handling

The quality inspectors will log defects into the required system, and ensure closed loop communication for nonconformance to the team members and supervisors as needed. The primary role is to identify product and process-related issues and consolidate information to be utilized by different areas for Process/Continuous Improvements, and collaborating with the QE/ME to drive event based and holistic defect reduction opportunities.

RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:
• Inspecting incoming products or components by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and rejecting unacceptable materials. (not limited to raw materials or subassemblies)
• Perform inspection using defined inspection tools (microscope, calipers, CMM, etc.)
• Inspection of assemblies through the manufacturing process
• Demonstrate inspection skills with a broad knowledge of IPC and other requirements for the role (i.e. IPC-A-610, IPC J-STD-001, IPC-A-600)
• Follow additional inspection instructions documented and defined by the organization
• Ability to operate visual inspection devices applicable to the operation (i.e. X-ray)
• Capture and register inspection data using the required system  
• Follow procedure when a non-conformance is detected
• Escalate defect reduction actions to Production and Engineering Teams
• Participate in Root Cause Corrective Action for systemic issues appointed by the quality team and/or the Manufacturing Supervisor People & Culture Controlled 2022

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required
• Previous minimum 1-years working experience in the industry (either as an inspector or other related position) or demonstrated equivalent competency to perform the tasks.
• Proficient written and verbal communication skills to perform product inspections and defect descriptions to and with all levels of the organization
Organized and detail-oriented
• Quality focused with an eye for challenging the status quo, and driving continuous improvement
• Minimum 1-year electronic assembly particularity with SMT and thru-hole operations “or demonstrated equivalent competency to perform the tasks”
• Above average degree of attention and ability to manage multiple activities concurrently in an environment where interruptions may be ongoing
• Theoretical demonstration or knowledge (trained) in hand soldering (J-STD) and IPC 7711
• Able to attend meetings and follow up actions Preferred   
• Previous inspection or rework experience is an asset
• Background in IPC-A-610 (Acceptability of Electronics Assemblies)
• Working knowledge of J-STD-001 (Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies
• Working Knowledge of IPC 7711/ 7721 (Rework, Modification, and Repair of Electronic Assemblies)
• Working Knowledge of IPC-WHMA-A-620 (Requirement and Acceptance of Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies)
Working Environment Conditions Physical Demands The quality inspector must possess sufficient strength to safely maneuver around archived materials up to 25lbs without injury to themselves or others.
