The Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) is searching for an expert manager to serve as the Division Chief for the Management Operations Division. In this dynamic role, your daily focus will be on both strategic planning and hands-on leadership. You will plan and organize the division's activities, setting short-term priorities and balancing workloads to ensure your subordinate units are effectively utilized and mission goals are met. A significant part of your responsibility will be to mentor and guide your subordinate supervisors, appraise their performance, and serve as the final decision-maker on complex work problems and personnel matters.

Beyond internal management, you will act as a key representative for the directorate, establishing and maintaining crucial relationships with commanders, directors, and key customers to assess satisfaction and resolve significant challenges. Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate is a seasoned leader with a comprehensive understanding of Services functions, policies, and operational management, particularly within a complex, geographically separated organization. This individual must have proven experience as a second-level supervisor, adept at directing and mentoring subordinate managers while overseeing all aspects of personnel management, including candidate selection, performance appraisals, and disciplinary actions. The candidate will be a strategic thinker, capable of developing and implementing goals, policies, and metrics that align with directorate objectives and ensure mission success.

They must possess exceptional analytical and communication skills, with the ability to gather and synthesize complex information into high-level briefings and reports suitable for top management. Furthermore, the ideal candidate will have a strong command of safety and security regulations, a commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace, and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Skills and Abilities:

• Must be a U.S Citizen.
• This position has been designated for drug testing. Incumbent is subject to random urinalysis testing as a condition of employment.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.
• Safeguards classified or sensitive budget-related information and/or files.
• May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
• Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed “Unscheduled Telework”.
• This position will close after 5 business days or 75 applications, whichever comes first.
• Employee may be required to perform travel by military or commercial passenger aircraft in the performance of temporary duty assignments.
• PCS funding is authorized.
• Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY):
  Approximately 15 days per year.
