Position Summary
Supervise, assign, review and participate in the work of staff responsible for maintaining and overseeing the Shooting Range Park; ensure work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures; and to perform the more technical and complex tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility. Minimum Education , Experience And Additional RequirementsEducation: Associates degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration or Public Administration.
Experience: Four (4) years of shooting range experience and one (1) year supervisory experience.
Additional Requirements:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
Possession of a valid Firearms Instructor Certificate within six (6) months from date of hire.
Possession of a valid C.P.R. and First Aid Certificate within six (6) months from date of hire.
Possession of a valid Cash Handling Certificate within six (6) months from date of hire.
Preferred Knowledge- Operational characteristics, services and activities of a Shooting Range program
- Modern and complex principles and practices of shooting range management
- Modern and complex principles and practices of firearms
- Principles of municipal budget preparation and control and purchasing rules and regulations
- Principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation
- Occupational hazards and standard safety precautions
- Operational characteristics of shooting range equipment
- Principles and procedures of record keeping
- Basic mathematical principles
- Pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulations
- Understand and convey shooting range park rules and regulations
- Understand safe and proper methods for handling firearms
- Supervise, organize, and review the work of lower level staff
- Select, supervise, train and evaluate staff
- Interpret and explain City policies and procedures
- Respond to requests and inquiries from the general public
- Prepare clear and concise reports
- Ensure compliance with applicable firearm rules and regulations
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
- Communicate clearly and concisely
- Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
