Overview
Participate in the maintenance and repair of airport equipment and surrounding property and facilities; perform snow removal from airfield runways, taxiways and terminal areas; operate pavement maintenance equipment to repair airfield surfaces and perform a variety of maintenance tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility.
This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing.
ResponsibilitiesIndependently perform the full array of airport facilities maintenance and repair tasks and follow department policies and procedures. Operate a variety of maintenance equipment in a safe and effective manner. Perform runway sealing and snow and debris removal tasks. Work independently in the absence of supervision. Understand and follow oral and written instructions. Communicate clearly and concisely. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
High school diploma or GED; and
Two (2) years of experience in any combination of the following areas:
- construction
- paving
- facilities or grounds maintenance
- Possession of a valid New Mexico Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class A or
B. - Possession of a valid City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
- Must be able to successfully qualify for and maintain a Sunport Access Control Card as determined by the criteria set forth by the policies and guidelines of the Aviation Department and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
- Successful completion of a security background check conducted by U.S. Customs & Border Protection, if applicable.
- General airfield maintenance practices and procedures
- Principles and practices of pavement repair
- Fence construction and repair methods and techniques
- Runway snow and ice removal techniques
- Standard radio communication techniques
- Building custodial, maintenance and repair functions
- Methods and techniques of general facilities and grounds maintenance
- Operational characteristics of airfield maintenance equipment and tools
- Occupational hazards and standard safety practices
- Pertinent Federal, State and local codes, laws and regulations
