Supervise, assign, review and participate in the work of staff responsible for custodial maintenance of City facilities on an assigned shift; ensure work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures and perform the more technical and complex tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility. High School diploma or GED;
Six (6) years of custodial experience; one (1) year of lead or supervisory experience. Specialized training in maintenance preferred.
- Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
- Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.
- Must be able to successfully qualify for and maintain a Sunport Access Control Card as determined by the criteria set forth by the policies and guidelines of the Aviation Department and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
- Successful completion of a security background check conducted by U.S. Customs & Border Protection, if applicable.
- Operations, services and activities of a custodial maintenance program
- Principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation
- Methods and techniques of providing custodial services to buildings and related areas
- Principles and practices of injury prevention and injury reporting requirements
- Materials and equipment used in a custodial maintenance program
- Methods and techniques of monitoring stock levels and maintaining an appropriate supply of materials and equipment
- Modern and complex principles and practices of maintenance
- Occupational hazards and standard safety practices
- Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations
- Supervise, organize, and review the work of lower level staff
- Select, supervise, train and evaluate staff
- Oversee a custodial maintenance program in assigned city building
- Approve leave, maintain and monitor payroll/timesheets
- Maintain a variety of maintenance and operational records
- Interpret and explain policies and procedures
- Operate a variety of custodial equipment in a safe and effective manner
- Prepare clear and concise reports
- Communicate clearly and concisely
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including City officials and the general public
