Custodian - Family YMCA

Overview

Building Custodian is responsible for janitorial and building appearance aspects of the branch.

• Perform custodial duties to maintain cleanliness and orderliness of assigned areas.
• Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors.
• Empty trash receptacles and replace liners.
• Clean mirrors in fitness center & group ex rooms.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms and replenish supplies.
• Dust and wipe down surfaces, including desks, tables, handrails, and windowsills.
• Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors.
• Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and request replenishment as needed.
• Follow established safety protocols and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Assist with special cleaning & maintenance projects as assigned.
• Dust, mop and brush clean stairways, handrails per scheduled or request.
• Vacuum carpets and doormats per schedule or request.
• Inform management staff or maintenance needs around the facility.

• Previous experience in custodial or janitorial work preferred.
• Knowledge of industrial cleaning techniques, including buffing and floor maintenance
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, polishers, carpet cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray and aerosol forms.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Good physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects or equipment if required.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Ability to work in conditions that will create dirt and dust.
