IT Support Tech 2

The Health Sciences Center Office of Research is seeking an IT Support Tech 2 to join our administrative team. The successful applicant will provide general user support for computer users, deploy desktops/laptops, and is responsible for the tracking, acquisition, and reporting of inventory assets within the Office of Research. Other duties include computer imaging and setup, software installation, printer installation and support, Huron account creation, and oversight of the IT Ticketing system.

The person filling this position will be expected to work with HSC User Support to keep up with changes in the HSC technology environment. We are seeking a self‑motivated individual who enjoys a diverse range of projects and has proven technical skills.

Responsibilities
  • Performs troubleshooting and general maintenance on various software applications and hardware systems for Office of Research and SW CACTI users.
  • Performs software installation, including re‑imaging, for new and established Office of Research and SW CACTI users.
  • Completes the installation, configuration and maintenance of computers, workstations, printers, monitors, conference room equipment and/or other related equipment and devices.
  • Maintains and updates computer inventory database (App Tree).
  • Assists with tracking inventory for Office of Research assets and leads the annual inventory review.
  • Provides expert review and recommendations for the acquisition of new software and hardware.
  • Creates Huron IRB and COI user accounts.
  • Maintains current knowledge with respect to technology and equipment trends, applicable laws, regulations, standards and/or systems and creates and maintains IT and inventory work instructions.
  • Performs miscellaneous job‑related duties as assigned.

    • Specialty licensure/certification may be required, as specified by the department.

    Minimum Qualifications

    High school diploma or GED; at least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Higher education and/or experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience performing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on Windows and Apple OS based computers (hardware and software)
    • Ability to analyze and resolve computer problems
    • Experience with logging and tracking equipment updates
    • Knowledge of HTML
    • Experience with Microsoft Access
