Director of Load Forecasting (Onsite)
Our client, one of the Pacific Northwest’s largest energy providers, is looking for a Director of Load Forecasting for their Portland, OR location. This full-time position will lead high-impact forecasting, research, and equity initiatives.
Requirements:
This onsite position is a direct‑hire role in Portland, OR. Candidates must be willing to relocate. Employer assistance available.
- Lead high-impact forecasting, research, and equity initiatives.
- Manage Load Forecasting, Load Research, and Equity Data Collection.
- Shape sustainable energy and equitable access across the region.
- Manage energy and demand forecasting for regulatory, business, and operational use.
- Oversee development of econometric models to analyze customer behavior and regulatory impacts.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally to integrate large customer usage, DSM, and distributed generation into forecasts.
- Provide expert‑level insight to senior leadership and regulatory bodies through presentations, testimony, and reports.
- Lead the functional team by overseeing daily operations, providing guidance and recommendations, and managing all aspects of employee development, including selection, coaching, performance evaluations, and annual reviews.
- Guide load research efforts in support of general rate cases and strategic data initiatives.
- Ensure sample design accuracy and integrity of metered data through advanced analytics.
- Lead the evolution from traditional methods to cutting‑edge AMI‑based analysis.
- Direct development of equity‑related data frameworks in response to clean energy legislation.
- Define customer equity metrics and maintain dashboards for transparency and compliance.
- Act as a thought leader in DEI data strategy—bridging regulatory requirements and community impact.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, etc.); advanced degree preferred.
- 10 years of regulatory experience in one or more of the following technical areas: econometric forecasting, revenue requirement preparation, production cost simulation modeling, cost of service analysis, or pricing analysis.
- 5+ years in a leadership role strongly preferred, managing teams and guiding cross‑functional initiatives strongly preferred.
- Strong technical aptitude and ability to translate complex data into meaningful insights.
- Highly technical experience in math and statistics (subject matter expert) level of expertise.
- Experience gathering and analyzing large data sets.
- Data visualization tools expertise with Power BI (preferred) or Tableau.
- Exceptional written/verbal communication skills and comfort engaging with senior leadership and external stakeholders.
