Database Administrator VILocation:
Albuquerque, NM
The Database Administrator VI will provide design assistance for system enhancements and application support, including logical data modeling, normalization, and physical table design.
Responsibilities- Support the design, improvement, implementation, and operation of a Data Operations Center (DOC).
- Support would include (but not be limited to): backup and recovery of systems, patching of systems, providing Tier II/III support to lower tiers, performance tuning, hardware upgrades, operational configurations, resource optimization, etc.
- Follow industry standards and best practices for Data Centers.
- Perform Help Desk activities such as answering helpdesk phones/email/fax after‑hours from the regular scheduled helpdesk support.
- Support the collection/analysis, authoring, and communication of requirements.
- Perform 24x7 monitoring for network resource outages and Enterprise/Data Center applications, etc. Network monitoring and application/server monitoring shall be performed using government‑supplied monitoring tools, such as Microsoft SCOM, Whats Up Gold, and Solar Winds.
- Open tickets for monitoring and outages.
- Provide database design assistance for system enhancements and new systems development, including logical data modeling, normalizing, de‑normalizing, and physical table design.
- Assist in making changes to production databases, such as creating new accounts, scheduling jobs, password changes, and modifications to server configurations.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Associate’s degree or combination of education and experience.
- 6+ years of relational database management experience. Customer Service requires 6+ years of related technical experience in supporting various database platforms at the data center level.
- Background check.
- Must be able to obtain a Public Trust.
- Has the ability to design a database to the third norm.
- Ability to write disaster recovery plans.
- Has the ability to develop project management documentation.
- Has the ability to work without guidance.
- Has the ability to manage and initiate projects.
- Works on Servers as an SME for database projects.
- Ability to be on call twenty‑four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week.
