SummaryPresbyterian Hospital is hiring a Unit Secretary/Nursing Tech to perform secretarial/clerical duties while serving as a communication center for the nursing unit. The role includes specific patient care procedures (e.g., bedside testing) under the direction of a licensed Nurse and support procedures for the operation of a Nursing or Clinical Department. Operates patient monitoring systems.

- EPIC electronic charting system.
- Performs phlebotomy and other collection procedures appropriately and according to established procedures.
- Processes requisitions and enters test orders into the computer system.
- Performs waived and moderate complexity testing where documentation exists.
- Assists clinical floor staff with stocking supplies, cleaning, patient transport, and other tasks as needed.
- Operates patient monitoring systems (cardiac, fetal, etc.) and performs bedside testing such as Oximetry, ECG, Glucometry, urinalysis.
- Handles specimen transport, biohazard disposal, and routine equipment maintenance.
- Maintains correct census and bed status report; assembles and organizes patient charts.
- Provides patient care tasks including vital signs collection, nutritional assistance, and activities of daily living support.
- Communicates information pertinent to end‑of‑shift summation before leaving the unit.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School/GED required.
- Clinical experience OR completion of Unit Secretary course OR completion of self‑study module preferred.
- Must successfully complete competency verification before starting on assigned unit.
- BLS required at time of hire.
