Summary

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Physician Assistant (PA)/Nurse Practitioner (NP) with specialized experience or interest in cardiovascular emergency care to join our Cardiology Department team. The APC (advanced Practice Clinician) will collaborate closely with emergency medicine and cardiology teams to evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients presenting with acute cardiac conditions in a fast‑paced ER setting.

Job Description Practice Highlights
  • Embedded APC to work as a cardiac specialist in the Emergency Room
  • 7 day shifts per month. Shift duration is 10 hours.
  • Collaborate and interact with ER providers as well as cardiology team
Responsibilities
  • Perform focused cardiovascular evaluations, including comprehensive histories and physical exams, on patients presenting with chest pain, arrhythmias, heart failure, syncope, and other cardiac concerns.
  • Order and interpret cardiac diagnostics such as EKGs, cardiac biomarkers, chest imaging, echocardiograms, and telemetry.
  • Initiate and manage treatment plans for cardiac patients under the supervision of a cardiologist or emergency physician, including ACS protocols, CHF management, arrhythmia control, and hypertensive emergencies.
  • Coordinate patient care across multiple disciplines, including Cardiology, Emergency Medicine, and Internal Medicine.
  • Assist with patient disposition: admission to telemetry/cardiac units, transfers, or safe discharge with follow‑up plans.
  • Provide clear documentation and communicate effectively with consulting teams, nursing staff, patients, and families.
  • Participate in cardiology‑related quality improvement initiatives and education sessions within the ED.

Job Description
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program or Nurse Practitioner program
    • Nurse Practitioner - Masters degree in Nursing, New Mexico Nurse Practitioner license, federal and state DEA license and ANCC certification required. Minimum of one year experience preferred but not required. Experience as an ER Nurse preferred.
    • Physician Assistant - Baccalaureate prepared CAHEA Certified Physician Assistant or two (2) years working experience as a Certified Physician Assistant, and licensed by the New Mexico Board of Medical Examiners required. Minimum of one year experience;
      Prior experience as an EMT or Scribe in an ER preferred
  • BLS and ACLS certification required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in Cardiology, Emergency Medicine, or Internal Medicine strongly preferred.
  • Proficient in interpreting EKGs and managing acute cardiac presentations.
  • Strong clinical judgment, multitasking ability, and comfort working independently in a high‑acuity environment.
