Responsibilities- Provide case management and counseling services to assigned clients: assess individual needs, determine appropriate levels of care, and coordinate referrals.
- Support clients in residential, community-based, and jail-based settings; connect clients to treatment, healthcare, legal, and social services through collaboration with external agencies.
- Conduct initial client interviews and gather case histories to assess needs and addiction severity; determine appropriate levels of care.
- Coordinate with community agencies to schedule and support client participation in treatment and support programs.
- Support the reliability and effectiveness of client treatment, services, and rehabilitation efforts.
- Identify needs and make appropriate referrals for substance use treatment, behavioral health services, domestic violence support, medical care, and legal assistance.
- Establish and maintain relationships with community partners and professionals to facilitate client support and service delivery.
- Collaborate with families, justice system personnel, and community resources to support client progress.
- Transport clients to appointments and other service providers as needed.
- Maintain accurate and timely case documentation, including case notes and reports; prepare case files for regular review and participate in quality assurance processes.
- Deliver program-related services in residential, community, and correctional settings.

- Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field.
- One (1) year of work experience in criminal justice, social work, counseling, or a related field.
- Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered.
- Licensed Substance Abuse Associate (LSAA) preferred.
The offer of this Bernalillo County position requires compliance with the following:
- Employee must successfully complete the post-offer employment medical examination and background investigation.
- This position is safety sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random drug testing in accordance with all applicable federal and state rules and regulations regarding alcohol and/or drug testing.
- Employee must comply with the County safety guidelines.
- Pursuant to the Caregivers Act, Section 29-17-1 through Section 29-17-5 NMSA 1978, new hires will undergo a caregiver criminal history screening; convictions may be cause for termination or non-hire if disqualifying.
- Employee must complete required FEMA training as assigned.
- All positions may require varying shifts per department needs.
- Most essential duties are performed indoors in a temperature-controlled environment.
- Outdoor duties may be required; exposure to natural weather conditions.
- Possible exposure to noise, fumes, odors, contagious diseases, and potentially hostile or dangerous situations.
- Indoor surfaces may be carpeted or tiled; stairs may be involved.
- Outdoor surfaces may be even or uneven and may be wet or dry; stairs or ladders and inclines or hills may be involved.
- Work hazards include treatment facility environments with exposure to noise and potential health hazards, plus the high stress level of the job and operation of a vehicle.
- Office equipment includes telephone, computer, printer, and copy machine.
- May handle first aid and oxygen equipment occasionally.
- Administrative materials include a wide variety of forms, reports, writing utensils, and other basic office supplies.
