SummaryMake a difference. Presbyterian Hospital is hiring Patient Mobility Techs to assist with ongoing patient mobility including bed mobility/repositioning, transfers, and ambulation of hospital inpatients with the goal of improving and maintaining patient mobility to decrease deconditioning, risk of falls, pressure ulcers, extremity contractures, and length of stay. Provide emotional support to patients and their families. Assist patients with feeding and activities of daily living, including toileting, bathing, dressing, and grooming.

- Assists therapy and inpatient staff with patient care as directed.
- Assists with activities of daily living such as personal hygiene (shaving, mouth care, foot care, peri care, and bathing), positioning and ambulation.
- Assists with patient mobility, lifting, and transfers to proactively mobilize patients to prevent deconditioning.
- Lifting responsibilities include total body transfers requiring maximal assistance to and from: bed to/from chair/wheelchair; bed to/from gurney; bed to/from toilet/commode; floor to bed; repositioning (turning and getting up in bed), and any other lift where total body movement of a non‑ambulatory patient is required.
- Participates in the nutritional well‑being of patients through tray delivery, assistance with patient set‑up and feeding. Accurately records input and output.
- Reinforces education of patient and family/responsible party regarding individual care needs and safety issues.
- Participates in quality, safety, and care experience initiatives and goals.
- Provides a safe environment and safe delivery of care.
- Monitors, collects and records information in the patient record. Collects and accurately records weights and other patient data.
- Transports patients and documents action in patient record.
- Courteously greets and directs customers. Promotes/facilitates accurate and timely unit communication.
- Communicates information pertinent to the end‑of‑shift summation before leaving the unit.
- Rounds on patients and families frequently to assess and address personal needs, concerns, or comfort‑related issues. Reports information to responsible nurse for resolution when necessary.
- Operates patient monitoring systems specific to unit needs such as cardiac monitoring.
- Assists with application and removal of restraints under the direction of an RN.
- Applies oxygen delivery devices as ordered without altering settings or determining rates. Assists patients with portable or wall oxygen, and assures proper storage of E cylinders.
- Documents all care provided in the appropriate place in the patient record. Uses the computerized documentation system at the skill level commensurate with the responsibilities included in this description.
- Assists in maintaining nursing unit cleanliness and orderliness.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- BLS required at time of hire.
- Clinical experience preferred.
- Ability to learn and demonstrate competency in proper and safe patient handling including repositioning/bed mobility, transfer/lifting, and progressive ambulation using appropriate assistive devices as needed; cane, walker, crutches.
- Must successfully complete competency verification before starting on assigned unit.
