Cardiac Telemetry Monitor Tech

Location Address: 1100 Central Avenue SE, Albuquerque, New Mexico , United States of America

Base Pay Range: $15.87/hr - $25.43/hr

Compensation Pay Range: $15.87 – $23.04 (minimum – maximum)

Summary: Make a difference. Presbyterian is hiring a Cardiac Telemetry Monitor Tech to perform monitor technician duties and unit secretarial clerical duties while acting as a communication center for the nursing unit. Sign on and relocation bonuses available for qualified candidates.

Work Shift:

12 Hour Nights (United States of America)

Responsibilities
  • Observe patients' cardiac telemetry, oximetry and maintain records, documenting in EMR, printing strips, and reporting any pertinent rhythm or rate changes, especially life‑threatening dysrhythmias and desaturations.
  • Provide patient reports to physicians, nurses, and the oncoming monitor technician.
  • Notify the nurse immediately of any lethal arrhythmias and document findings in EMR.
  • Export and print 12‑lead ECGs per ED staff request.
  • Perform cardiac device interrogations per order.
  • Assume responsibility for the proper functioning of the computerized patient monitor system and report malfunctions immediately to supervisor and the Medical Equipment Management Services.
  • Assist in orientation of new staff or students and serve as a resource person and professional role model.
  • Timely completion of mandatory initial and yearly competencies, including but not limited to cardiac rhythm interpretation, BLS, Philips system monitoring, and safety training.
  • Maintain all skills required for various job aspects: telemetry monitoring, ECG assessment and exportation, cardiac device interrogation, and secretarial duties.
  • Adhere to PHS policies, including but not limited to human resources, attendance, safety, and equipment.
  • Adhere to department‑specific policies, procedures, and standard works.
  • Maintain positive communication and relationship with peers and other healthcare team members.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities.
  • Promote accurate unit communication.
  • Courteously greet and direct customers.
  • Answer communication devices and efficiently process information.
  • Effectively utilize computer systems to meet patient unit needs.
  • Communicate and process necessary paperwork for patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Maintain correct census and bed status reports; assemble patients' charts and organize them daily by filing pertinent reports and adding blank forms as needed.
  • Maintain and account for office supplies for the unit.
  • Assist in orienting new personnel to secretarial duties.
  • Perform other functions as required.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1 year of monitor technician experience preferred.
  • Specialized, short‑term training in cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation with special emphasis on detection of life‑threatening dysrhythmias preferred.
  • 1 year of experience as a unit secretary preferred.
  • Take and pass Basic Arrhythmia Class within orientation period.
  • Take and pass Basic Arrhythmia Test annually.
  • Complete initial and annual competencies for cardiac device interrogations.
  • Take and pass initial and annual competencies for Philips equipment operation and basic troubleshooting.
  • SKILL:
    Ability to effectively interact with customers to understand their needs and explain data.
  • SKILL:
    Microsoft Office.
  • SKILL:
    Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in person and via telephone with members, employer groups, brokers, physicians, and physician office staff using strong dialogue and customer service competencies.
  • SKILL:
    Written communication.
  • BLS required at time of hire.
