POSITION PURPOSE. As an Examiner, you will be conducting Compensation & Pension (C&P) Examinations for Veterans applying for disability compensation from the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) in relation to their in‑service injury claims. The role involves reviewing the claim, performing focused assessments of claimed injuries, reviewing medical records, and potentially rendering a medical opinion based on the record review and completed C&P exam.

Charting from home may be required. Each examiner plays a vital role in the overall experience of the Veteran by providing an exceptional experience during these examinations.

Job Responsibilities.

• Conduct comprehensive medical disability examinations, including review of medical history, physical examinations, and assessment of disability impact.
• Review and analyze medical records, diagnostic test results, and other documentation to understand the Veteran’s medical history and health condition.
• Render objective medical opinions regarding the extent of the veteran’s health issues and their impact on ability to work and daily activities.
• Submit examination findings within the case management system and correspond with the Quality Assurance Team.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals and specialists to obtain additional medical information as needed.
• Document findings in accurate, concise reports following VA guidelines and formats.
• Manage work schedule and availability for C&P exams; coordinate travel (10% travel to other LSGS Clinics).
• Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and VA standards; maintain HIPAA and confidentiality.
• Maintain VA training requirements and keep updated on VA MDE program requirements.

Qualifications.

• Graduated from an accredited Physician Assistant program and possess a valid, unrestricted PA license that is not barred in any U.S. state or territory.
• Minimum 1 year of experience working as a Physician Assistant.
• Previous experience conducting medical disability examinations or a related field is preferred.
• Basic Life Support certification, including renewals.
• Previous military experience or familiarity with military/veteran communities preferred.
• Completion of specialized training or continuing education in Medical Disability Evaluations, occupational health, or related areas is advantageous.
• Demonstrated proficiency in conducting comprehensive medical assessments, interpreting diagnostic tests, and formulating evidence-based opinions.
• Strong analytical, critical‑thinking, and communication skills; empathy and compassion toward patients.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team‑oriented environment; strong organizational and time‑management skills.
• Authorized to work in the United States and comply with federal contractor requirements.

Technological & Physical Requirements.

• Competent in MS Word, MS Outlook, Adobe PDF, web‑based platforms, electronic medical records, Teams and LMS systems.
• Prolonged periods standing, sitting, and working on a computer; able to lift up to 15 pounds; full range of motion to conduct examinations.
• 10% travel required to support other clinics; additional travel for training or company events.
