Position SummaryPerform advanced level detailed and exacting work in the installation, inspection, maintenance and repair of a variety of powered and non-powered biomedical equipment used for diagnostic, monitoring, treatment and care of hospitals and clinic patients. Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards for medical devices. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. No patient care assignment.
Detailed Responsibilities- BIOMED EQUIPMENT - Perform complex installations, inspections, maintenance and repairs of biomedical equipment used for diagnostic and treatment of patients
- SAFETY - Interpret data information to ensure adherence to electrical safety standards by conducting maintenance safety inspections on a variety of biomedical equipment
- SAFETY TESTING - Perform a variety of safety tests on medical equipment and institute corrective measures; document and maintain accurate records; may compose reports of a technical nature
- DOCUMENTATION - Maintain accurate and complete documentation of work orders and safety inspection records of all equipment and services performed
- QUALITY - Participate in the development of quality control and preventive maintenance designs and programs
- TECHNICAL DEVELOP - Develop and maintain the technical skills needed to perform the work of the position by attending supplementary educational programs
- TRAINING & SERVICE - Provide technical assistance and instructions to Hospitals staff regarding medical equipment; provide quality service to internal and external customers
- LEAD - Serve as project lead to lower level employees; assist in training of new personnel staff
- DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops
- RELATED WORK - Perform related duties and responsibilities as required
Related Education and Experience may be substituted for one another on a year for year basis.

Technical, Electronics or equivalent Military Training
Essential:
- Patient care equipment maintenance, modification, testing, inspection, particularly electronic devices 3 years directly related experience

- AAMI National Medical Equipment Association Certification
- Certified Bio Medical Equipment Technician
Lift, carry, push and/or pull items weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance and items between 50 and 100 pounds or more with assistance Perform work in unusual positions using full body mobility with frequent bending, kneeling, stooping, climbing, twisting, and turning
