Southwest Family Guidance Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Infant Mental Health Therapist with a strong IMH and Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) focus to join our expanding program.

This role is rooted in Infant Mental Health (IMH) principles and CPP
, providing relationship-based, trauma-informed therapy to young children and their caregivers. The therapist will maintain a focused caseload that includes infants, young children, and elementary-aged children
, with services delivered through an IMH and CPP lens to support attachment, emotional regulation, and healing within caregiver-child relationships.

About the Role

The Infant Mental Health Therapist role follows a phased clinical progression
, with flexibility based on prior experience in Infant Mental Health (IMH) and Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP).

Standard Onboarding Pathway (Up to First 6 Months)
  • The therapist will maintain a primarily focused caseload of elementary-aged children
  • Services will emphasize trauma-informed, relational, and family-centered care
  • The therapist will engage in training, supervision, and preparation for IMH/CPP work
  • No IMH or CPP cases will be assigned during this period
Accelerated Pathway for Experienced IMH Clinicians
  • Therapists with demonstrated prior IMH and/or CPP experience may begin providing IMH/CPP services earlier or immediately
    , based on clinical readiness, supervision approval, and program needs
  • Caseload composition and pacing will be determined collaboratively with leadership and clinical supervisors
IMH/CPP Integration Phase
  • Therapists transitioning into IMH/CPP work will provide dyadic, relationship-based services to infants, young children, and caregivers
  • Caseloads may continue to include elementary-aged children as clinically appropriate
  • Services focus on attachment, emotional regulation, and healing within caregiver-child relationships

This is a full‑time, salaried position requiring consistent availability for clinical services, collaboration, supervision, and training.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and family therapy to primarily elementary‑aged children
    , particularly during the onboarding phase
  • Deliver IMH/CPP services when clinically appropriate and aligned with prior experience and prior approval
  • Maintain a developmentally appropriate, trauma‑informed caseload
  • Support caregiver‑child attachment and relational healing
  • Participate in IMH/CPP‑focused supervision, consultation, and training as applicable
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary, trauma‑informed team
  • Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation
Qualifications
  • Prior experience in Infant Mental Health and/or Child‑Parent Psychotherapy preferred but not required
  • CPP‑Rostered clinicians or those with documented IMH experience may begin IMH/CPP work sooner, based on program approval
  • Active New Mexico clinical license (LMHC, LPCC, LPC, LMSW, LISW, LMFT, or equivalent)
  • Experience or strong interest in infant and early childhood mental health
  • Knowledge of attachment, trauma, and family systems
  • CPP‑Rostered or willing to obtain CPP training (training support provided)
  • Commitment to professional growth and reflective practice
  • Ability to meet full‑time availability expectations
