Position Summary

The University of New Mexico Center for Memory & Aging (CMA) and the Department of Neurology invite applications for a new faculty position in the Associate Professor to Professor level
. The selected applicant will be an Associate Director of the newly funded New Mexico Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (NM ADRC). The successful applicant will have fellowship training in cognitive disorders and experience working in an ADRC. The individual will be part of the UNM Center for Memory & Aging research programs and will recruit and assess participants in two program‑project grants (MarkVCID:  

and NM ADRC: ). It is expected that the candidate will have ongoing, independent NIH research funding. Clinical duties will include directing a memory and aging clinic and handling a clinic patient load. Education duties include teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. The NM ADRC/CMA has ongoing studies focused on neuroinflammation, vascular contributions to cognitive impairment, health disparities, and plasma‑based biomarkers.

The newly funded ADRC is committed to providing dementia services for New Mexico’s rural and medically underserved populations. The applicant needs strong administrative skills and the ability to direct a large clinical research team.

The medical school houses a Clinical Translational Science Center (), a designated Comprehensive Cancer Center () with a genome center, a Brain and Behavioral Health Institute (), and three NIH‑funded Centers for Biomedical Research Excellence focused on brain recovery & repair, autophagy/inflammation/metabolism, and metals in biology & medicine.
