Position Summary
Performs quality, diagnostic MRI examinations and assists radiologist with procedures.
Schedule
This is a part-time position working Saturdays 1pm-10pm and Sundays 7am-7pm.

Reports directly to the MRI Supervisor and indirectly to the MRI Charge Technologist.

Typical Physical DemandsRequires manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination for operation of department equipment. Lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Assists patients and places them in appropriate positions for operation of equipment. Requires eyesight correctable to 20/20 vision to operate equipment and review images.
Typical Working ConditionsExposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerformance Requirements
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology to sufficiently determine area for examination.
- Knowledge in all MRI exams and procedures.
- Knowledge of MRI equipment and testing.
- Ability to acquire working knowledge of RIS system, EPIC EMR, Power Share, PACS Change (McKesson), Qgenda, Pen Rad and scheduling software.
- Knowledge of safety hazards common to MRI including equipment, body mechanics, and patient movement.
- Skill in properly positioning patients to provide quality imaging.
- Skill in trouble shooting equipment operation and performing simple adjustments.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
- Ability to apply written guidelines and standardized work practices.
- Ability to identify problems and communicate clearly.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of an accredited radiologic technology program.
Experience
Three years of experience preferred or recommendation from training program.
Certificate/License
- Current Radiography (R) certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Current MRI (MR) certification preferred or must obtain MRI credential within one year of hire.
- Current license with the New Mexico Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Program.
- Current CPR certification or obtained within three months of hire.
