Police and courts in Albuquerque, NM are seeking a full‑time, permanent Court Probation Officer 2 #. The Court is part of the Recovery Court Division. Target Pay Range: $24.736-$30.920 per hour.

Essential TasksUnder direction, prepare pre‑sentencing reports, appear in court to present recommendations on treatment and sentencing, supervise defendants on probation and manage cases. Investigate defendants’ educational, family, criminal and social background, assess risks and needs, review police and court reports, develop supervision plan, monitor compliance, perform crisis management, schedule hearings, appear in court to elaborate and defend pre‑sentencing report and cooperate with attorneys.

Job Duties
- Conduct investigations on defendants/offenders, establish needs and develop a treatment support plan.
- Participate in scheduled progress meetings at court‑appointed locations.
- Monitor defendants/offenders’ compliance at court hearings and with community service program requirements and track and record community service participation.
- Report, document, and notify the court of defendants/offenders compliance, non‑compliance or program violations and recommend appropriate action.
- Maintain current case files and document all interactions with program defendants/offenders and treatment providers in the case management system.
- Perform scheduled and unannounced site visits to monitor program compliance.
- Use electronic monitoring technology to monitor program compliance.
- Track and administer drug and alcohol screens and maintain screening protocols, equipment and supplies.
- Attend conferences, training, community outreach and educational programs related to court programs.
- Prepare written and oral reports detailing defendants/offenders’ program compliance and make recommendations on future treatment support or referrals.
- Provide input during court proceedings and meetings with court staff and other treatment providers.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of court‑ordered rehabilitation or support programs, sentencing guidelines, treatment options and community services;
New Mexico law; local court rules, policies and procedures; case management; legal terminology; substance abuse and mental health counseling and treatment; mediation techniques and conflict resolution; investigative techniques; drug screening methods; electronic monitoring equipment and technology; and court case management system.
Work is performed in an office or court setting. A valid driver’s license and travel may be required. The assigned work schedule may include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime. The employee must regularly interact positively with co‑workers, clients, the public, judges, and justices.

- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Four (4) years of directly related or relevant experience may substitute on a year‑for‑year basis.
- Three (3) years of experience in criminal justice, social services or related field.
- No substitution for experience.
- May be required to obtain and maintain National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certification within six (6) months of hire.
