Target Pay/Rate: $24.846 per hour
The Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court is recruiting three (3) full‑time Court Probation Officers in Albuquerque, NM.
Essential Tasks & Duties- Act under general supervision to monitor defendants’ participation in court‑mandated programs and compliance with court orders.
- Conduct investigations on defendants/offenders, establish needs, and develop appropriate treatment support plans.
- Participate in scheduled progress meetings at court‑appointed locations.
- Monitor defendants/offenders’ compliance at court hearings and with community‑service program requirements, and track community‑service participation.
- Report, document, and notify the court of defendants/offenders’ compliance, noncompliance or program violations; recommend appropriate action.
- Maintain current case files and document all interactions with program defendants/offenders and treatment providers in the case‑management system.
- Perform scheduled and unannounced site visits (home, work, school or other location) to monitor program compliance.
- Utilize electronic monitoring technology to assess program compliance.
- Track and administer drug and alcohol screens; maintain alcohol and drug screening protocols, equipment, and supplies.
- Participate in conferences, trainings, community outreach and educational programs related to court programs.
- Prepare written and oral reports detailing defendants/offenders’ program compliance and make recommendations on future treatment support or referrals.
- Provide input during court proceedings, meetings with court staff and other treatment providers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Applicants should demonstrate knowledge of:
- Court‑ordered rehabilitation or support programs, sentencing guidelines, treatment options, and community services.
- New Mexico law, civil and criminal procedure; local court rules, policies, procedures, operations.
- Case management and legal terminology.
- Substance abuse and mental health counseling and treatment, mediation techniques and conflict resolution.
- Investigative techniques, drug screening methods, electronic monitoring equipment, and technology.
- Court case‑management system.
Work is performed in an office or court setting. A valid driver’s license and travel may be required. The schedule may include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime. The employee regularly interacts positively with co‑workers, clients, the public, judges and justices.

- Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Social Sciences or related field. - Experience:
One (1) year of experience in criminal justice, social services, or related field. - Education Substitution:
Four (4) years of directly related experience may substitute on a year‑for‑year basis. - Experience Substitution:
None. - Other:
May be required to obtain and maintain National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certification within six (6) months of hire.
