Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role located in Albuquerque. The Senior Accountant plays a critical role in managing and strengthening the accounting processes, functions and financial operations of the nonprofit. The Senior Accountant provides The Loan Fund employees, Board members, external clients and external institutions and regulatory organizations with up-to-date financial information on the status of fund accounting, loans, grants, and other financial matters pertinent to the success of The Loan Fund and its mission to provide loans and assistance to improve the economic and social conditions of New Mexicans.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business, Finance or equivalent years of experience preferred. Three to 6 years of experience in a similar accounting role for a non-profit or other financial organization required.
  • Strong familiarity with computer and financial programs. Must be skilled at non-profit accounting practices, IRS regulations, and all other third-party reporting agencies.
  • Extremely well organized, self-directed, and able to handle multiple tasks.
  • Well-versed in Quick Books, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
  • Good knowledge of banking laws, loan and fair credit practices, and general banking terminology to best assist clients with their loan questions.
  • Experience with government contracts is a plus.
  • Ability to analyze and make sound recommendations on complex financial data and operations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with staff, Board, funders, vendors, clients, and others encountered during the course of work.
