Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their Shared Services Accounting function and serve as a trusted financial partner to designated business units. This role operates as the primary accounting lead for assigned operations, owning close, reporting, and compliance activities while delivering financial insight that supports business performance and decision making.
In this position with our client, you will act as the accounting steward for your supported business units, functioning in a controller like capacity to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and adherence to accounting standards. The role requires direct manufacturing and cost accounting experience, hands on use of Tier 1 ERP systems, and strong collaboration with both finance and operational teams.
The Senior Accountant will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, support the integration of acquired locations, and help drive consistency and efficiency across the organization.
Key Responsibilities- Lead month end, quarter end, and year end close activities for assigned business units, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant financial reporting in accordance with IFRS and GAAP
- Analyze financial results, trends, and variances and provide clear explanations and actionable insights to business and finance leadership
- Partner closely with site level and regional stakeholders to ensure financial accuracy, alignment, and operational understanding
- Ensure consistent application of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls across supported entities
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and system effectiveness to enhance efficiency and data quality
- Prepare audit support documentation and coordinate with internal and external auditors during audits and reviews
- Review balance sheet reconciliations for completeness and accuracy and resolve discrepancies in collaboration with cross functional teams
- Proactively identify accounting risks, unusual transactions, or control gaps and drive timely resolution
- Provide technical accounting and cost accounting guidance related to inventory, labor, and manufacturing operations
- Support ERP related initiatives including system enhancements, data standardization, and integration of acquired sites
- Mentor and support junior accounting team members to reinforce technical capability and consistent application of processes
- Perform additional responsibilities and special projects as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting standards
- Proven experience in cost accounting including inventory valuation and labor and material analysis
- Advanced Excel skills and hands on experience with Tier 1 ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle
- Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non finance stakeholders
- Ability to collaborate, influence, and serve as a trusted partner across functions
