The Loadpath, LLC team in Albuquerque, NM is innovating space mechanisms, multi-payload launch adapters, structural testing, deployable composite booms, deployable space structures, R&D engineering, spacecraft thermal management components, and thermal analysis. We have a current opportunity for a Mechanical Engineering Intern. We are looking for a college student working on a degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aeronautical Engineering (Bachelor’s or Master’s) to help participate in developing breakthrough manufacturing technologies for space and terrestrial spin‑offs.
We will provide you with a 12‑week internship during which you will perform hands‑on meaningful projects aligned with our company goals and objectives. This opportunity will fully immerse you in our technology and culture for an invaluable and rewarding experience. Responsibilities- Work on various project tasks under the direction of senior engineering staff and mentors in Deployable Solar Arrays, Structures, and Mechanisms.
- Apply engineering principles in areas of design, analysis, manufacturing, and test.
- Generate technical documentation, reporting, and presentations of design, test, and analysis results.
- Currently enrolled in a nationally accredited university or college, pursuing either a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aeronautical Engineering. As part of our selection criteria, we will review your grades and transcripts, considering any formal training, lab work, research papers, prior work in co‑ops, internships, and related experience.
- Have a variety of Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering classroom and practical experience where you have demonstrated outstanding work through coursework, projects, lab work, workshops, internships, and other collegiate activities.
- Competent with 3D CAD modeling;
Solid Works preferred. - Competent in robotics software development.
- Must be able to obtain a security clearance.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. person as defined by ITAR regulations.
- Passionate about the space industry, with a high level of energy, a drive to work in a team/collaborative environment, and a desire to excel in all aspects of your work.
- We look for candidates who strive for excellence in every aspect of their college or university experience, demonstrated by coursework, projects, lab work, workshops, internships, and other activities. Creativity, resourcefulness, open‑mindedness, and a drive to succeed are also valued.
- Familiarity with ROS2, Python, MATLAB/Simulink, and git version control.
- Involvement in related extracurricular activities or clubs is a plus.
- Previous internships are a plus.
