Positions Located In: Tucson, AZ & Albuquerque, NM

About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Estimator to support our preconstruction efforts and help drive new business opportunities. This role centers on producing accurate, competitive estimates while building relationships that help us secure new opportunities.

- Review plans, specifications, and bid documents for heavy civil projects.
- Perform detailed takeoffs for earthwork, utilities, grading, drainage, concrete, paving, and site development.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes.
- Prepare complete bid packages for public and private infrastructure projects.
- Develop project budgets, cost breakdowns, and bid narratives.
- Maintain updated cost databases for labor, equipment, materials, and production rates.
- Participate in site visits, pre-bid meetings, and internal bid reviews.
- Analyze bid results and incorporate lessons learned into estimating strategies.
- Identify upcoming bid opportunities and market trends.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, engineers, municipalities, and GCs.
- Support proposal preparation, qualification packages, and marketing content.
- Partner with leadership to pursue new markets and strategic project opportunities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of heavy civil estimating experience required.
- Strong knowledge of earthwork, utilities, drainage, and site development.
- Experience bidding and estimating ADOT, NMDOT or TXDOT related work.
- Proficiency with HCSS Heavy Bid and Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication, organization, and analytical skills.
Ability to manage multiple bids under tight deadlines. - Involvement with business development or client relations is preferred.
- A collaborative, team-focused mindset is essential.
- Primarily office-based with occasional travel for site walks, client meetings, and industry events.
- Achieve full proficiency in HCSS Heavy Bid within 3 months.
- Independently estimate $5M+ projects within 6 months.
- Develop new client or market relationships for Meridian within 12 months.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization, including H1-B sponsorship.
