What Your Job Will Be Like:
The Interns for Security, Arms Control, and Force Protection Engineering (iSAFE) Institute is one of the premier Intern Institutes at Sandia National Laboratories. We are seeking outstanding, energetic and passionate undergraduate students majoring in Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Explosives Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Geophysics, Materials Science, Mathematics & Statistics, Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, Seismology, Nuclear Engineering, Systems Engineering, a concentration in Human Factors or Organizational Behavior, or related fields of study.
Our Interns will work on high-caliber, cohesive teams to support programs and projects related to the United States National Security Missions. These projects include but are not limited to, critical asset protection and security, nuclear weapons and force protection, and weapons of mass destruction nonproliferation and cooperative threat reduction, energy and homeland security, intelligence science, and reliability engineering.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
+ Work with your team in designing, developing, implementing, testing, and delivering advanced data processing and exploitation software
+ Work with your team in designing, developing, and conducting tests and experiments related to our national security missions
+ Work in a collaborative and learning environment and assume significant responsibilities for assisting in the development of first-of-a-kind software solutions and data exploitation methods to solve challenging technical problems for national security needs
+ Utilize your knowledge, skills, and abilities to deliver quick and accurate solutions to complex and nationally significant problems
+ Develop new skills that focus on addressing needed capabilities for our projects
+ Contribute to data analysis and review in support of our national security mission projects
+ Contribute to reports and papers on technical topics
+ Help to identify and implement new tools and approaches to solving complex technical problems
+ Collaborate with other Sandia National Laboratories Interns on shared projects
Salary Range:
At Sandia, we value the important work done by our interns and its contribution to National Security. Because of this, our interns earn competitive pay rates. Our pay structure is based on earned credit hours, classification, and degree level. Your pay rate will be determined during the hire process and included in your offer package. Qualifications We Require:
You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:
+ Earned bachelor's degree
+ Currently attending and enrolled full time in the spring term immediately preceding the internship (or scheduled to graduate in the spring) in an accredited science, engineering, or math graduate program
+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
+ Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer
+ U.S. citizens, legal permanent residents, asylees or refugees in the U.S.

Qualifications We Desire:
+ Working knowledge and understanding of an engineering or science-related field as listed in the required section.
+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0
+ An existing U.S. Government granted security clearance
+ Self-motivated, hard-working, detail-oriented, and thorough
+ Ability to work well in a team environment
+
Experience with the following:
Electro-mechanical systems;
Control systems;
Software programming; MATLAB;
LabVIEW;
National Instruments Veristand;
Test instrumentation and troubleshooting
+
Experience with the following:
Test designing, planning, execution, and documentation;
Data analysis and statistical methods;
Digital signal processing;
Mechanical structural analysis;
Computational Fluid Dynamics analysis
+
Experience with modeling;
Solid Works, Pro/E, Creo, Finite Element Analysis
+ Knowledge in programming and scripting languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, Python, Ruby, PHP, SQL
+ Knowledge of tools and approaches related to human systems analysis or experimentation
