Job Description

As a Senior Electrical Engineer at Black Ve, Inc, you will play an important role in design, analysis, integration, and testing of our spacecraft. You will be critical member of our Spacecraft Programs team by leading the design, analysis, integration, and test of electrical and power systems. This will include interfacing with teams of cross-functional scientists, engineers, software developers, and technicians to ensure spacecraft electrical systems operate successfully on-orbit.

You will be required to identify and lead work within a small and agile team on a broad set of tasks and ensure the highest quality product through all phases of the space element design, build, test and operations. Collaboration across engineering, assembly, test, and software disciplines is essential. Personal ownership and accountability within the Spacecraft Programs Team is aligned with the necessary responsibilities to be successful within the company.

Essential Job Functions
  • Lead the design, development, and validation of electrical systems and components for spacecraft integration, including digital board design, command and data handling systems, telemetry, communications, and command subsystems.
  • Oversee the integration and functional testing of electrical subsystems to ensure compliance with technical and regulatory requirements.
  • Decompose, analyze, and translate complex customer and mission requirements into functional specifications and engineering requirements.
  • Specify and manage digital board design and electronic parts to include managing supplier delivery and quality
  • Identify and resolve electrical and integration issues throughout the system lifecycle, including design, assembly, and testing phases.
  • Develop and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including block diagrams, wiring schematics, interface control documents (ICDs), and test reports.
  • Work closely with other engineering teams, program management, technician teams to resolve technical challenges.
Required Qualifications
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field with 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in electrical system design, analysis, integration, and test for spacecraft systems. A relevant Master’s degree may be substituted for 2 years of experience.
  • Proven track record of successfully executing electrical system design and digital system design for spacecraft that operate in the orbital space environment
  • Proficiency using electrical engineering tools such as Altium Designer, LTspice, and MATLAB
  • Must have the ability to qualify and maintain a Top Secret security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with all phases of a spacecraft electronics and computational system lifecycle: concept, design, analysis, assembly, integration, test, launch, and on-orbit operations.
  • Hands-on experience building and testing electrical systems, harness, and cables to IPC standards
  • Strong understanding of space environmental considerations, including radiation, thermal constraints, and electromagnetic compatibility on digital systems
  • Familiarity with high-reliability electrical components and design for radiation-tolerance
  • Ability to effectively communicate professionally in writing or verbally with all levels of personnel.
