Senior Controls Engineer; VBA, .NET, and SQL

Overview

We have a Controls Engineer position available in our Albuquerque, NM office. This person will provide team leadership in delivering automation systems for a wide variety of industries. This position requires demonstrated technical proficiency in implementing automation solutions with PLC, DCS, HMI, and SCADA platforms. The Senior Controls Engineer will interact directly with the customer and lead a team of our client's engineers in identifying requirements, developing specifications, and implementing/testing/commissioning/qualifying automation solutions.

This position is a leadership role within the business unit and requires strong problem-solving ability, well-balanced people skills, an aptitude for business efficiency, and an interest in creating partnerships. The Senior Controls Engineer demonstrates success by securing repeat work with both new and existing customers.

• Deliver innovative automation solutions and design standards either self-directedly or as a leader of a team. Conceptualize, detail, and implement control systems for industrial processes and machinery that meet customer requirements.
• Develop a control system architecture, select components, detail schematic diagrams and system documentation, program controllers (PLC, DCS, RTU), program the process visualization (HMI/SCADA), develop databases for archiving/displaying historical data, and implement/commission the control system at the client’s facility.
• Knowledge of controller programming languages such as Ladder, Sequential Function Chart, Structured Text, and others; VBA, .NET, and SQL for HMI/SCADA development preferred.
• For larger systems, experience with industrial networking to connect control system components and instrumentation is preferred. Design, detail, and implement fiber, wired, and wireless systems using industrial protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, etc.).
• Manage projects as needed: developing project execution plans, work breakdown structures, budgets, scheduling, time tracking, financial tracking, risk identification, conflict resolution, team leadership, and project status meetings. Overseeing daily operations of projects up to $1M and ensuring overall profitability.
• Act as technical lead on projects and guide lower-level engineers and technicians; may act as Project Manager on smaller projects.

• Education – Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Computer Science.
• Experience – 10+ years of Controls Engineer experience with competencies in:
  Rockwell and Cimplicity preferred; experience with 3rd party web-based data integrations, developing workflows to automate template/instance development within System Platform, and providing technical leadership on design standards around graphics, alarming, and scale-up. Proficiency in SQL, .NET, Power BI, Grafana, APIs; strong understanding of PLC platforms (Rockwell, Siemens, Modicon) and HMI/SCADA platforms (ICONICS Genesis

• Experience across industries such as Semiconductor fabrication, Life Sciences, Building Automation, Food and Beverage, Oil & Gas, Mining.
• Experience in electrical schematic design, including power distribution under 480
  
  VAC, control panels, and NEC references;
  AutoCAD experience is desired.
• Experience leading a team of engineers/technicians, mentoring less experienced engineers, and providing technical leadership.
• Professional references, preferably from a subordinate, peer, and manager.
