Enter WSP is currently initiating a search for a POWER Testing and Energization (PTE) Experienced P&C Field Services Technician for our project locations in the states of Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma. Successful applicants will be involved in projects with our PTE Team and be a part of a growing organization that is solving problems and supporting client needs in electrical testing and commissioning in utility substations, industrial, and bulk electrical power systems.

* + Supports a wide range of testing and commissioning activities through application of client testing standards, industry standards (IEEE, NETA, NFPA, NESC), and manufacturer recommendations

+ Works under limited supervision, independently executing moderately complex assignments, and contributing to regulatory compliance, safety adherence, and data integrity across active job sites

** Your Impact*
* + Perform assigned testing and commissioning tasks for Protection and Control systems on high voltage substations

+ Perform on-site hands-on protective relay testing using relay test sets such as Omicron CMC 256/356 or Doble F6150. Examples of relays to be tested are SEL-311L, SEL-387, SEL-487, SEL-421, SEL-351S, GE L90, GE D60 among others

+ Use field forms, digital data tools, and mobile applications to document site activities

+ Perform equipment cleaning, inventory control, and calibration as directed

+ Support the Project Lead or Field Supervisor on projects

+ Escalate complex technical problems or unexpected field conditions to the site lead or project manager

+ Participate in daily safety briefings and ensure compliance with health and safety protocols

Communicate progress, field observations, and potential delays to the project team

+ May review the work of less experienced technicians for quality and accuracy, providing informal guidance as needed

+ Maintain attention to detail when filling out logs, photo documentation, and label entries

Collaborate with other technicians to maintain workflow, safety, and quality standards

+ Assist in monitoring subcontractor performance and activities and report observations to field leadership

+ Perform clerical responsibilities such as timecards, expense reports, and project reports

+ Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures

+ Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs

** Who You Are*
* ** Required Qualifications*
* + High school diploma or equivalent

+ Minimum of 7 years of experience in the electrical testing industry, including experience in medium and high voltage circuit breakers, power transformers, instrument transformers, and substation protection and controls testing

+ Demonstrable expertise on transmission, generation, and distribution relays (SEL, Basler, Beckwith, and GE families) and protective schemes

+ Technical skills related to protective relays include relay calibration utilizing test sets/measuring devices such as Omicron CMC 256/356 and Doble F6150, control scheme testing, testing of the sensing CT/PT circuits, ability to upload settings to microprocessor relays, and static & dynamic testing of microprocessor-based protective relays

+ Proven experience with electrical field testing standards, practices, and procedures, such as NETA, IEEE, and NFPA applicable standards

+ Demonstrable knowledge of testing electrical distribution, generation, and transmission projects with voltage levels ranging from 15 kV to 500 kV, including protective relays and circuit breakers

+ Experience using technical software such as ProTesT, Protection Suite, ENOSERV RTS, Omicron Test Universe, and AcSELerator Quickset for testing purposes and data review

Experience with reading and understanding electrical drawings

+ Ability to identify routine field challenges and equipment issues, responding within established procedures and escalating atypical conditions

+ Skilled in preparing field logs, sketches, and digital reports

+ Physical stamina to work in outdoor and physically demanding conditions

+ Experience collaborating with contractors, technicians, and engineers

+ Demonstrated commitment to field safety, quality, and regulatory compliance

+ Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills for field team collaboration

+ Capable of critical thinking and problem-solving skills to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from inspection and testing results
