Under general supervision, leads and coordinates assigned projects; consults with other departments and organizations on environmental risk; and works with agencies and contractors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Leads and coordinates environmental planning, permitting and compliance activities for company operations
  • Works directly with entry-level scientists to guide and direct work
  • Informs and advises Senior Scientists and department management on project status, direction and environmental risk
  • Directs an appraises the work of environmental consultants and contractors
  • Works on many projects concurrently and at all levels within project organization
  • Assists in the review of legislation, legal, and regulatory issues
  • Consults with other departments and organizations on environmental issues and constraints
  • Interacts with regulatory agency personnel on a regular basis
  • Participates in due diligence assessments for multiple types of transactions associated with real property and operational assets
  • Stays abreast of emerging environmental issues and their potential impact on company operations
  • Scopes and determines needed work product for specific issues
  • Interprets laboratory/field analytical results and compares to regulatory requirements
  • Participates in environmental audit programs
  • Coordinates and responds to spills and wildlife emergencies
QUALIFICATIONS MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR

EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university with five to six years of environmental-related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the discipline.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
  • Must possess a current, legally valid drivers license and meet the company's driving record requirements.
COMMUNICATION

SKILLS:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
MATHEMATICAL

SKILLS:
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
  • Ability to perform unit conversions
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry and statistics
COMPUTER

SKILLS:
  • Working knowledge of database, spreadsheet, word processing, and presentation software
  • Understanding of GIS software
ANALYSIS AND PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITY:
  • Ability to solve multi-faceted problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to collect and analyze multiple data sources.
