Job Description

The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC) at Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico, is searching for an Engineer/Program Manager (NH‑0801‑03, GS‑12/13 equivalent).

The Engineer/Program Manager should have experience in engineering and/or program management, ideally within the DoW or a similar environment. Proven experience in leading multi‑disciplinary teams and managing complex programs characterized by significant uncertainties and risks is essential. Applicants must demonstrate a history of developing and implementing acquisition policies, procedures, strategic plans, and source‑selection experience that enhance mission‑execution effectiveness.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading integrated product teams and managing launch operations and missions.
Implementing requirements, monitoring performance, and developing cost estimates.
Planning conflict resolution between many organizations and communicating project status to SSC leadership and other stakeholders.
Establishing management controls such as milestones, expenditure rates, and management indicators.
Reviewing documents to assess impact on mission preparation and execution.
Organizing teamwork efforts and leading specialists in resolving technical, schedule, cost, and supportability issues.
Supporting and leading teams to implement financial and technical aspects of projects (launch operations, acquisition, mission preparation, etc.).
Generating specific plans, goals, and objectives consistent with policies and requirements.
Directing and coordinating activities of functional specialists (engineering, contracting, program control, finance, logistics, and mission assurance).
Reviewing contractor progress and keeping leadership informed of status and resolution actions.

Requirements

Must be a U.S. citizen.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top‑Secret security clearance.

Professional engineering degree at the bachelor’s level from an ABET‑accredited institution.

Drug‑testing designation; subject to random urinalysis testing.

May be required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information.

Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) certification (Level 2ühr
3) is required.

File OGE‑450 “Confidential Financial Disclosure Report” within 30 days of starting and annually by 31 October.

Attend annual ethics and procurement integrity training.

May be required to work overtime on unscheduled or emergency basis.

May be required to report to work during base exercises or emergency situations.
