Salary: $93,000.00–$ per year
Job DescriptionWSP is a global engineering and professional services firm. We are seeking a Lead Environmental Planner to join the Planning & Environment group in Albuquerque to support our range of environmental planning services. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, conducting field surveys, developing permitting strategies, and providing technical reports to enable sustainable development.
ResponsibilitiesDesign:
- Manage the planning, development, and implementation of environmental projects to ensure compliance with laws and regulations with minimal supervision.
- Develop planning studies and documentation for NEPA, Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, and other regulations.
- Author technical reports and conduct biological and wetland studies.
- Prepare environmental survey reports, impact assessments, and permitting activities.
- Identify environmental risks and develop action plans for mitigation.
- Scope projects and develop permitting execution strategies.
- Engage in business development and proposal writing.
Analyze:
- Participate in land development decisions integrating environmental, social, and economic considerations.
- Collect data, conduct research, field surveys, and produce technical reports.
- Use topographic maps, aerial imagery, and GPS for site analysis.
- Stay current with environmental planning practices and regulations.
Collaborate:
- Manage field schedules for surveys and coordinate cross‑functional teams.
- Oversee project budgets, tracking, and stakeholder compliance.
- Guide junior staff and interns.
- Collaborate with clients, agencies, and technical staff to deliver solutions.
- Maintain compliance with WSP Code of Conduct.
Required:
- 7–10 years of experience in environmental planning.
- Bachelor’s or graduate degree in Environmental Planning, Ecology, Biological Sciences, or related field.
- Exceptional technical writing and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of NEPA, Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, and other regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ArcGIS.
- Strong safety record and adherence to WSP policies.
- Ability to travel as required and work flexible schedules.
Preferred:
- Previous environmental consulting experience.
- Project management experience with proposals and budget oversight.
- Experience with tribal, federal, state, or local agencies.
- GIS mapping and spatial analysis skills.
