A DAY IN THE LIFEThe Project Environmental Engineer/Scientist provides direct support, under the direction of Senior Project Manager, to environmental projects. The role will complete tasks as assigned using applicable tools and skills to help develop, implement, and maintain management strategies, procedures, and plans for our clients to ensure compliance with state, federal, and local regulations.
This role requires conducting fieldwork, performing basic calculations and analysis, preparing permit applications and regulatory guidance documents, managing simple projects, and assisting with preparation of other environmental documents such as periodic reports. The role requires familiarity with the Microsoft Windows Operating System, Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), PDF editors (Adobe or Foxit), and Google Earth.
Work will be remote; however, the ideal candidate should be within a reasonable driving distance to our Albuquerque, New Mexico office.
Key Responsibilities- Title V, NNSR, PSD Air Quality Permitting, Minor Source Permitting, Air Quality Impact Analysis, Emission Inventory Reporting (EIR), Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasures (SPCC) Plans, CERCLA/RCRA Compliance.
- Work independently and in a team setting.
- Collaborate with peers, seniors, and clients to build and strengthen relationships.
- Engage in team and client meetings, share ideas.
- Conduct field work at client sites to collect data.
- Assist with research and data collection efforts as requested by project managers.
- Prepare environmental guidance documents, permit applications, compliance plans, and other resources for clients.
- Track project budget and hours, use time effectively to complete tasks within assigned timeframe.
- Interface with customers to provide project status reports and ensure customer needs are met.
- Maintain knowledge of regulatory standards in environmental technical areas of responsibility.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Exercise safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including completion of required safety training.
- Participate in the company’s continuous improvement programs and support team efforts.
- Keep up-to-date on industry trends through formal training, professional publications, and workshops.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science (civil, environmental, or chemical) from an accredited four‑year college or university.
- 3+ years of environmental compliance experience with industrial, municipal, and/or federal clientele.
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of computer‑aided software (Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, etc.).
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to present to supervisors.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Physical capability for canvassing large project areas by foot on various terrain and in inclement weather.
