This job is available at any location in the United States. Ideally, selected candidates will be near a Jacobs U.S. office, but we intend to hire the best candidates regardless of distance.
Responsibilities- Provide technical design leadership for telecommunications systems in data center buildings, including structured cabling, wireless, audio‑visual, and other low‑voltage systems.
- Lead BIM designers in preparing engineering drawings and develop or modify DIV 27 specifications.
- Conduct site visits, review technical documents, and mentor junior team members.
- Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, sign and seal telecommunications design packages, and identify processes to increase department efficiency.
- Coordinate with other disciplines, project managers, and clients, and provide quality assurance for telecommunications systems designed by others.
- Lead projects and manage project schedules, budgets, and risk mitigation as bandwidth allows.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Communication Engineering from an ABET‑accredited college.
- Minimum 8 years of experience designing or leading designs for telecommunications structured cabling systems.
- Thorough knowledge of ANSI/TIA, BICSI, NFPA 70, and related standards.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam and Revit or Navisworks design software platforms.
- Excellent project management skills, including experience with RFP responses, budget creation, and schedule maintenance.
- Self‑motivation to coordinate with other disciplines, project managers, and clients.
- PE license required; ability to obtain multiple PE licenses is required.
- Experience with startup and commissioning of telecommunications systems.
- Knowledge of telecom infrastructure for control systems and security systems is beneficial.
- Credential as an RCDD is a plus.
- 4 years of telecommunications design experience in data centers.
- Experience with other low‑voltage systems such as security, audio‑visual, and wireless.
- Familiarity with CSI or AIA specification writing procedures.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary project teams.
