Position Summary
The Lead Teacher works in the classroom throughout the school year with children and families. Provides a learning environment that fosters growth and development of children, including those with atypical development, in early childhood settings. Implements weekly lesson plans, encourages parent volunteerism, and is responsible for child screenings, evaluations, referrals, and follow-up. Maintains communication with other teachers to ensure program consistency.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood preferred, or an Associate Degree in Childhood Development plus five (5) years' experience in a preschool or Early Head Start setting. If substituting education and experience, must obtain a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood or a related field within two (2) years of employment.
- Valid New Mexico driver's license with ability to meet Pueblo of Santo Domingo insurance requirements and maintain eligibility to drive tribal or personal vehicles.
- Fluent in English;
Keres language speaker preferred. - Must obtain a Physical Examination within 30 days of hire and pass a criminal background check.
- Must complete and annually update First Aid/CPR certification and Food Handler's certification.
- Must exercise care, compassion, and objectivity in decision-making.
- Satisfactorily pass a criminal background check and drug screening; obtain a physical exam within 30 days of hire.
