The College of Education and Human Sciences (COEHS) invites applicants for its Education Specialist position in the COEHS Field Services Center. This position fills a unique need and is an integral part of student and academic field experience support. The Field Services Center works with college programs and external partners to coordinate undergraduate and graduate students in educational and clinical field settings.
The position will oversee and support day-to-day administrative and human resource components connected to student field experiences, which includes but is not limited to:
- Serve as a support person and liaison with external constituencies including school districts and clinical settings; assist with the coordination of meetings and trainings for district, school, and clinical personnel.
- Coordinate student field placements in accordance with academic program parameters and in compliance with state, local, or other organizational regulations.
- Complete related administrative matters including verification of required documents, payment of honoraria to cooperating teachers, reimbursement of mileage for university supervisors, and upkeep of records.
- Assist with processes for the hiring, training, and support of clinical supervisors.
Enter field placement data into UNM web-based programs for accreditation and certification requirements. - Build and maintain professional relationships and ongoing communication with internal and external constituencies, particularly faculty program coordinators, students, district and site personnel, and university supervisors.

Conditions of Employment- Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications- 3 years teaching and/or administrative experience in PK-12 public school settings in the United States.
- Professional experience mentoring and/or supervising Teacher Candidates.
- Professional experience working with adults and knowledge of adult learners.
- Master's degree in education or a closely related field.
- Professional experience with the UNM College of Education and Human Sciences and knowledge of college policies and processes and/or the COEHS Field Services Portal.
- UNM fiscal experience using Banner and other systems to process financial documents.
- UNM human resource experience using UNMJobs and other systems for personnel transactions.
